Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig September 21 1983) is an American actress best well-known for her role in the roles of Shannon Rutherford on the ABC television series Lost as well as Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. After the divorce of her parents her parents separated, she moved to Worthington in Ohio and moved at Los Angeles. The year 2001 was a difficult one for her, but despite financial struggles she managed get her first significant performance in the video online series Rachel's Room in the role of Rachel's Room's lead character. In the following year, she was awarded an Young Artist Award nomination in 2002 for her performance as fifteen-year-old victim Martha Moxley in the television movie Murder in Greenwich. Grace appeared as Shannon Rutherford on the Lost television series in 2004. She played the lead role for two seasons, and won an award for her performance, a Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace has worked together with Tom Welling on The Fog in the year 2005, decided to make the move into the world of film. In 2007, she appeared on screen in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club and, opposite the Liam Neeson character Kim Mills as Kim Mills for Taken. The role was reprised in Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the lead role Alice in Malice in Wonderland a modern take on Lewis Carroll's novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace returned to Shannon's character on Lost for two episodes. This included the final episode of the series. In 2013, she appeared in the sixth season of Californication. She portrays Faith who's both an avid stargazer as well as a socialite. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. She is part of the Gyllenhaal clan and the younger sister of Jake Gyllenhaal. Her career began as a teenager as she was cast in minor parts in a few films directed from her father. She also worked with her brother in 2001's popular movie Donnie Darko. Then she appeared on the screen in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind as well as Mona Lisa Smile (both 2002). Gyllenhaal was praised by critics for her leading roles in Secretary (2002, erotic romantic drama), and Sherrybaby (606) and Sherrybaby (606) that earned the actress Golden Globe Award nods. In 2006, she appeared in numerous commercially successful films, such as World Trade Center. However the role she played as Rachel Dawes that brought her more attention with The Dark Knight (2008). The role she played in Crazy Heart as a mother who has a child was nominated for the Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. In the following years, she appeared in dramatics and comedies: Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and The Won't Back Down (2012). Some of her other parts include acting as a Secret Service agent of The Secret Service in White House Down 2013, as a singer in Frank 2014 and as a singer in The Kindergarten Teacher 2018, in which she plays the title character. Gyllenhaal made her debut as a director and writer in 2021, with her psycho-drama The Lost Daughter. For this movie, she received the Best Screenplay Award at the Venice International Film Festival and was nominated for an Academy Award.
